And so began my adventures in yeasty goodness…
Everyone had me scared. Those TikTok’s you see with the fancy kitchens, dozens of bannetons, fancy Le Creuset Dutch ovens that cost more than almost everything in my kitchen.. You know the ones.. Marble counters, everything spotless??
Yeah. Those people had me scared. They made it seem like it was going to be like taking trigonometry or chemistry, both of which are classes I avoided like the plague in high school.
I decided to snag a little starter off of someone on marketplace that lived somewhat close to me. I made my mind up to give it a whirl. What was the worst that happened?? I would have wasted some flour and maybe some frustration.
But that didn’t happen. My first ever loaf was to a “T” perfect in every way. The crumb. The crust. Everything! It was even an inclusion loaf. Picture perfect.

So down the rabbit hole I fell. Like Alice, only if Wonderland was a never ending bin of flour… that may have just given me the greatest tattoo idea to date.. ok.. back on track… Falling into the never ending possibilities that having a sourdough starter brings. I’ve made bagels, pepperoni rolls, cookies, pretzels, granola bars. The list has grown pretty extensive.
I’m here to tell you to just try. You never know what may happen.
